Rawthentic® Ingredients

WHOLE MUSCLE MEAT

Why do we say whole muscle meat?  Both human and pet food industries use many forms of meat to make food.  Rawthentic® is unique because we are using a very high quality, form of meat.  We use a whole piece of meat, similar to you buying a roast or steak.  We grind up the meat, but because we start with whole muscle we are able to retain all the nutrients from the meat and blood.

So what are other forms?  Mechanically separated meat is the most common.  Whatever is left on the bones after the whole muscle is removed is mechanically squeezed and separated off.  Consequently, due to the nature of the process so is some of the nutrition.  Think of a hot dog, not the same quality as biting into a juicy steak.

QUINOA

What in the world is quinoa  (Keen-wa)?  Quinoa is not classified as a grain.  It is actually a plant seed and a relative of green leafy vegetables like spinach.

Quinoa has an unusual nutritional profile in that it contains all the essential amino acids in balance which makes it a complete protein.  Quinoa also contains Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and other minerals.  The other unusual characteristic of quinoa when compared to a grain is per same size serving the calorie count is almost the same, however the percentage of carbohydrate in quinoa is much lower and the percentage of fat and protein much higher.

We added quinoa to Rawthentic® to approximate the stomach contents of a prey animal.  The quinoa in Rawthentic® is cooked in a proprietary way to mimic stomach acid digestion and make the food very digestible for your pet.

PUMPKIN

We chose to add pumpkin for a variety of reasons.  The primary reason is for its digestive quality.  Pumpkin is one of those foods dogs rarely tire of and is easy on the digestive tract.  The fact that pumpkin is loaded with natural Vitamin A is a bonus!

GREEN BEANS

Fresh green beans are added for Vitamins A, C and K as well as calcium, phosphorus and potassium.  Green beans are an excellent food to help feel full without a lot of calories.

CARROTS

Whole, raw, fresh carrots are added for Vitamins A and C, as well as potassium and fiber.

APPLESAUCE

We use a very small amount of applesauce to act as a binder for our food as well as provide additional vitamins and minerals.

PARSLEY

Parsley was added for additional vitamins and minerals as well as for its natural antifungal and antiseptic properties.  Parsley is also an excellent blood purifier.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Apple cider vinegar is an excellent natural agent that helps inhibit bacterial growth.
